i'm in croatia right now and only today, i journalled about the fact that i think the optimism i delevoped in recent years stems from just. being curious about the world, being interested and paying attention. i walk around the cobblestone streets, i look at the ocean, i touch a buidling that's over a thousand years old, and everything makes me cry. i'm glad my emotions are so close to the surface now (most of the time). this was beautiful

a friend of mine mentioned recently how amazed she is in my ability to find something pretty in everything. i've never realised it before but it got me thinking. this came at the right time and was such a joy to read! it is truly gorgeously written

Loved this! How easy it is to see the world with rose-colored lenses when we are in love with someone. And when we are heartbroken, the lenses come off. Love this reminder that beauty is everywhere, all the time - and to instead fall in love with life & all of the little facets of it!

The line about eating oysters and feeling nothing hit like a bruise.

This piece made me ache—in that quiet, welcome way—reminding me that beauty isn’t always gentle, but it’s always generous when you look hard enough.

I’ll be playing the ‘one beautiful thing’ game all week.

Love is blind because the initial stages of romantic love make us blind to people’s faults. I’ve been in a very long relationship, I can confirm that’s why it’s called that lol
